Description: Would like to know what this item is and what it was used for. There are no marks of any type on this mystery item. Made of strong metal that is only partially smoothed. 5 in tall, the trough is 5 in long and 2 in wide and 2 in deep in center. My guess is Colonial era and that the 2 prongs helped stabilize a cake of fat that would burn for light or other reason ? It would also help to know how rare it might be and what it is worth.
