What was this used/made for? Apothecary, Tea, Spices, Ink?

Description: This piece does have a stamp as shown in the 3rd picture with symbols and a fish (carp or koi). Heavy item and the sides are etched (bird, flowers, bamboo, butterflies)footed tray with 5 lidded jars. 2 same size (2"T), 1 (2.25"T), 1 smaller (1.5"T) and 1 (1.25"T)with insert. Tray or Holder is: 7.25"L, 3.50" W and 1.75"T.
I thought it was neat but would love to know what it was actually used/made for.
