Description: Trying to find out what this object is for a family member in Iowa that acquired it. I've scoured the internet, looked through books, etc.

I think it is a part of a machine, such as a tension holder or gear shift- due to the spikes on the one side. But nothing has matched up so far.

Believed to be cast iron.

Any help is much appreciated.
