Under the lid there is a holder for a lid, maybe a cuspidor or ash bin ? Looks like it's made of walnut. Rod down the center lifts the lid. Inside the round top box is a holder maybe for razors or pipes. Very good condition, and very well built. Trying to find one like it or who built it.
