The handle is made of wood and the head (top) is brass. The only markings are "Patent Applied For" on the shiny lever. When the lever is pressed 2 very small jaws located in the head are forced together, as to grip something like a small wire in them, and retracted part way into the head. Keywords: Vintage Tool
