Description: To start off, please forgive me if I seem like I don't know what I'm talking about, because I don't. Anyways, this item was given to me by my grandfather, who told me it was a bayonet. I believe this as well, despite its pretty large size compared to other bayonets I've seen. If you can't tell in the photos, it has a serrated or "sawback" edge. The handle is made of wood, and the scabbard supposedly has a sharpener inside of it. It's about 25 inches long in the scabbard, and there's also the letters "HS" on the bottom of the blade, with another odd little symbol below that. The numbers "53391" are on the hand guard. I'd like to know where it came from or what country produced it, get an age on it if possible, and obviously get an appraisal.
