Description: I am wondering what the value and history of this axe head is. The stamping on the side of the eye reads “C&A Special”, and is the only marking on the axe. It appears to be a Michigan pattern head, measuring approximately 6 and 3/4 Inches long, 3-1/8 inches and 4-1/2 inches tall at the eye and bit respectively. The weight is unknown, but feels over 3 pounds. It was purchased at a flea market in Renfrew county, Ontario, Canada. The axe is in great functional condition, with no cracks or chips, but has suffered mild-moderate pitting from severe rust at one point, which is visible in the photo.
